Kabaka Muteesa I Catholic memorial Museum
Mutesa I catholic Memorial Museum, a significant cultural and religious landmark in Uganda that celebrates the intersection of Heritage and the Catholic faith, belongs to Kampala Archdiocese.
Named after Kabaka Muteesa I, this museum expresses gratitude for the King's hospitality, which allowed the Gospel to take root in Uganda.
The museum is housed on the top floor of the building which formerly was the priests’ residence of St. Mary’s Cathedral- Rubaga and later remodelled and blessed by His Eminence Fernando Cardinal Filoni, the then prefect of the Congregation of the propagation of Faith (Rome-Italy) on Friday 27th October 2017, as premises for the Museum. On the 25th of October 2025, this museum was officially opened by His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II King of Buganda and blessed by His Grace Paul Ssemogerere Archbishop of Kampala in commemoration of 100 years of the consecration of St. Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga.
